HEADBANGERS NIGHT TICINO

MUSIC FOR THE MASSES
World Music Day, also known as Fête de la Musique, is an annual celebration held on June 21st to promote music and its universal appeal. It originated in France in 1982. The idea was to encourage musicians – both amateur and professional – to perform in public spaces like streets, parks, and squares, making music accessible to everyone for free.

The date, June 21st, coincides with the summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere, symbolizing a day of light, energy, and harmony. It’s not tied to any specific genre; instead, it embraces all forms of music – classical, jazz, rock, traditional, electronic, you name it. The event has since spread globally, with over 120 countries now participating, each adding their own cultural spin. It’s less about commercialization and more about community and expression – think of it as a global jam session.
